September 26-30

Geography
Mon. 9/26 -- Map of Southwest Asia (the Middle East). We also went over the test taken on Friday.
Maps are due at the beginning of the period on Tuesday.
Tue. 9/27 -- Correct map of the Middle East. Students are grading their own map.  The process is mostly to review the map locations and show them how I grade maps.  We read pages 487-490 outloud (again map review and discussed the Dead Sea). Students read 491-493 and completed questions 3 and 4 on page 493.
Wed. 9/28 -- Regions of the Middle East (will review countries again!). Label countries and write facts about the three regions of the Middle East.  See Ms. Fenton for a full set of directions.
Thur. 9/29 -- Finish the regions pamphlet on the Middle East.
Fri. 9/30 -- QUIZ over the Middle East map.  Correction: We did not watch the video -- it was missing.  We instead took notes on oil and politics in the Mid-East.  There is a note sheet with questions to complete.

Economics
Mon. 9/26 -- Open note QUIZ on chapter 6. Worksheet comparing different types of competitive structures.
Tue. 9/27 -- Partner project on creating a product and determining elasticity. Maike-up: Get a copy of "Creating an Economic Model" handout and follow the directions.
Wed. 9/28 and Thur. 9/29 -- Watching the movie "Tucker." Students have a written response about either competition or forming a business due on Firday 9/30.
Fri. 9/30 -- Power point notes on anti-trust legislation.  Read current events on monopolies.  Absent students need to pick up an article and write a summary. Written Response to the movie due.

Ancient Medieval
Mon. 9/26 --  Notes the Iron Age of Greece (copy and stamp). . 
Tue. 9/27 -- Comparision of Athens and Sparta, read Lycurgus and discuss Spartan lifestyle.  Introduce the Persian wars.
Wed. 9/28 -- Video notes (Greek advantages in the war) "Battle of the 300." 
Thur. 9/29 -- Power point notes "Golden Age of Greece."  REading p. 134-139.  Write down the name of 10 famous Golden Age greeks and why they are famous.
Fri. 9/30  -- In class handout on the Parthenon (if you are absent, you do one on your own!).  Video from Engineering and Empire on the Parthenon. Diagram and notes.

September 19-23

Geography
Monday 9/19 -- Turned in maps of the physical environment of Russia and the Republics.  As a class we worked through the Russia and environment worksheet and 1-12 of the review slides.
Tuesday 9/20 -- Finished 13-20 on slides.  Turned in Russia and the Environment assignment.  Did history of Russia worksheet.  Watched the end of the video from last Thursday.
Wednesday 9/21 -- Review for test, test review sheet handed out to students.  REMEMBER to study for the test.  There is no class on Thursday.
Friday 9/23 -- Unit TEST on Europe and Russia and the Republics. (Test moved from Wednesday to Friday)

Economics
Monday 9/19 -- Finished the demand project.  Student partners completed the economics mystery assignment based on brand-name products.  See Ms. Fenton for project make-up.
Tuesday 9/20 -- Notes on elastic and inelastic demand.  What are the determinants of demand elasticity?  p. 112-113, main ideas 17-20, 22,24  and Critical Thinking, 25
Wednesday 9/21 -- Correct p. 112-113 (yesterday).  Notes on Chapter 5.  Make up read p. 117-123, p. 125 questions 2, 3, 7.
Thursday (2nd) Friday (6th) -- Complete the reading guide worksheet for Chapter 6 (skit #8).  This assignment may be used on the open note quiz on Monday the 26th.  Completed skits on various price factors to review the assignment.  There is not make-up for the skit. 
Ancient Medieval
Monday 9/19 --  Map of Greece and Timeline.  Looked at a powerpoint slide presentation on images from Greece related to the mapping assignment.  Map and Timeline due.
Tuesday 9/20  --Notes on the Minoan culture, Copy from a classmate. 
Wednesday 9/21 -- What is the difference between inference and conjecture? Discussion.  Complete the directions on the top of the Minoan Civilization notes.  Watch a video "Minotaur Island"  list 10 new pieces of information on the Minoans.
Thursday 9/22 -- Correct homework on the Mycenaeans (p. 123-126) Take the map Quiz on Greece.  Student groups completed a map of Mycenae diagraming the city and taking notes on the major features (Grave Circle A, Lion Gate, Treasury of Atreus and Megaron.  Look up the five underlined terms (on-line) and take four bullet notes on each to make up the assignment.

Geography:
Monday 9/12 -- Read pages 282-285-- Human Environment Interaction.  The rest of class was a review for the Europe Map Quiz on Tuesday.  Study for your quiz!
Tue, 9/13 -- Map Quiz of Europe. Read pages 319-321 Q. 3 (all parts). Read pages 323-325 q. 3 (all parts) and 4.
Wed. 9/14 -- Russia Regions project
Thur. 9/15 -- Finish regions projgect (20 minutes) watch Pilot Guide video of Russia. (we got to Star City and will see more next week).
Friday 9/16 -- Physical map of Russia.

Economics
Mon 9/12 -- Turn in reports on Countries (from Friday). Examine the Economic Goals. Read page 43-45.  p. 45 Q. 2  List all 7 goals and explain what they mean.
Tues 9/13 -- American Free Enterprise System -- Read pages 48-53. p. 53 --  2,3,4,6,7
Wed. 9/14 -- Review for the test,  Complete the review sheet and possibly paly some review jeopardy.
Thur. 9/15 -- Test over Economic Concepts.
Friday 9/16 -- Begin Demand (Chapter 4).  Student teams choose a product and create a series of question to see which factors most affect demand for their product.  Each student has interviews over the weekend.  If absent -- get the note sheet and then complete task 1-3 on the project.

Ancient Medieval
Mon. 9/12 -- Section on Origins of Judaism p. 77-82.  Read and complete the worksheet.
Tue. 9/13 -- pages 99-103, Map of Persia.
Wed. 9/14 -- Discuss Persia. Notes from "Engineering an Empire." Begin review sheet for the test on Friday.
Thur. 9/15  Review for the test. Complete the review sheet, due Friday.
Fri.  9/16 -- Test over Egypt and Early Empires.

Geography
Tuesday 9/6 -- Political Map of Europe.  You will need your book.  Map due on 9/7.
Wed. 9/7 -- Regions project for Europe.  This assignment is done in pairs.  See me for directions to make up this work.  It is best if you have a partner who will work with you!
Thur. 9/8 -- Finish the Regions project from Wed.  Read 282-285 Human Environment interaction.  Video on Enchanted Cities of Europe -- you need to get a note sheet and copy the notes from a classmate.
Fri 9/9 -- (35 minutes)  Map of physical features of Europe.

Economics
Tue. 9/6 -- Simulation for bartering (no make-up, but you miss out!).  Review for the vocabulary quiz on Wednesday. Economics Systems Chart (get from me)
Wed. 9/7 -- Chapter 1 Vocabulary Quiz. Noted on Mixed Economies.  Get a sheet and fill in the blanks in the PP. Know Adam Smith and Karl Marx!
Thur. 9/8 -- Video:  Emerging Powers: China.  There is a sheet to answer questions.  Borrow a classmates to copy or use mine after school.
Fri. 9/9 -- Individual Country reports, due Monday.  Work in the library.

Tue. 9/6 -- Notes on Egyptian architecture (pyramids and temples).  Get form and copy from a friend. Review for Quiz on Wednesday.
Wed. 9/7 -- Quiz on Old Kingdom and Map.  Hammurabi's Code -- notes and the creation of the HHS Code.
Thur. 9/8 -- Notes sheet on pharoahs of the New Kingdom. Begin video Egypt's Golden Empire -- we finished Thutmose III and started Akhenaton.
