Geography
Mon. 11/28 -- Map of SE Asia.  Due Tuesday.
Tue. 11/29  -- Powerpoint of SE Asia (map review).  Begin SE Asia project with a partner.  If absent on Tuesday I will give you a short version on Wednesday.  If absent both days see Wednesday for full assignment.
Wed. 11/30-- In class complete the partner project on SE Asia.  If absent do the following: Read pages 705-709.  Define mandala.  Write five facts about history (include both colonialism and independnece)  Write five facts (sentences) about the economy. Write five sentences about culture.  Look on the internet and find 2 places in the region that you would like to visit.  List and describe these two places to visit. Turn in these notes.
Thur. 12/1 -- QUIZ on SE Asia.  Map of Australia and New Zealand.
Fri. 12/2 -- Video -- Australia.  Get a copy of the questions and copy from a classmate.  Turn in

Economics
Mon. 11/28 -- Definition of GDP and GNP (look up or copy from a classmate).  GDP map assignment (get directions from me and a map:)
Tue.  11/29 -- Notes on the Output expenditure model and John M. Keynes.  Get a copy of the diagrams and copy from a classmate.  You must do this as these notes are necessary for the Quiz on Monday the 5th.
Wed.  11/30 -- Lecture on Demographics and Economic growth.  Groups of three will make presentations on a set of demographic data.
Thur. 12/1  -- computer lab either Corporation project or work on the Culminating Portfolio.
Fri. 12/2 -- Exact same as Thursday

Ancient Medieval
Mon. 11/28  -- Finish the map of Europe in 500.  Complete the map and write notes about the Franks, Visagoths and Vandals on the back of the map.  Look up facts on-line if you are absent.  You need three historical facts for each group for a total of 9 facts.
Tue. 11/29 -- Video notes on the "Dark Ages".  copy from a classmate.  Get a map of the monastry of St. Gall.  Color code the parts of the monastry.  Get the color code from me or a classmate.
Wed. 11/30 -- Notes on Charlemange
Thur. 12/1 -- QZ. on the Germanic kingdoms. Video on the vikings, notes on Viking expansion.
Fri. 12/2 -- Small group projects on Vikings.  Students will work in six groups on one aspect of Viking culture and present this information to the class.  Absent students will be assigned a topic and will write a 15 sentence summary.

World Geography
* I will accept Global Issues papers through Monday, November 28th.  There are point reductions for late work!
Mon.  11/21 -- Review for the Asia test.  Complete review sheet. Due on Tuesday.
Tue.   11/22 -- Test on Asia.  Three short answer questions instead of one essay.
Wed.   11/23 -- Review Europe and SW Asia map of the final.  No make-up if absent, but the review is pretty helpful for the final ;)

Economics
Mon. 11/21 -- Research into the spending of various government departments.  Teams of students will be assigned a department and learn their budget.  They will then research to find out where that money goes.  This is preparation of our Mini-Congress simulation on Tuesday.
Tue. 11/22 -- Mini-Congress Simulation.  You can get partial credit for your research, but being absent for the simulation means you will miss the discussion points.  If this is unavoidable, you can see me about extra credit.
Wed.  11/23  -  IOU USA video

Mon. 11/21  -- Review game for Islam and the East Unit test.  Group brainstorm for the essay.

World Geography
Mon. 11/14 -- Review for map quiz, discuss the paper and research; Read 628-630.  A video clip about China.
Tue. 11/15 -- Computer Lab -- Work on Works Cited Page for paper.  More research time or writing time.
Wed. 11/16 -- Quiz on the East Asia Map. Korea comparison worksheet.  Inside North Korea video segment.
Thur. 11/17 -- Start Japan.  Timeline of Japanese history -- yes there are Samurai!  Each student will complete one section of the timeline. If you are absent, you still have to complete a secton of the timeline.  Get directions from me.
Fri. 11/18 -- Global Issues Paper due. Japanese culture, Modern Japan web, take notes on p. 651-655. Video: Living Treasurers of Japan.

Economics
Mon. 11/14 -- Lecture on Investing.  Students will make a model investment portfolio based on the risk level found on their on-line quiz.  Portfolio pie graphs will be done in class.  We will also learn how to read an stock market report. -- Worksheet done together in class.
Tues. 11/15 -- Computer Lab -- Stock Market Research.  If you are absent you need a copy of these directions.
Wed. 11/16 -- Stock Profile.  Research into one stock from your group.  Each student will write a short profile of a current US stock evaluating its strength as an investment.  Again you need the directions (although there is a quick version on the Stock Market Research directions from Tue.)
Thur. 11/17 -- Test Review
Fri. 11/18 -- Test on Labor, Banking and Finance.  Chapters 10 and 14.

Ancient Medieval
Mon. 11/14 -- Group project on Byzantine legacies.  Each group will report back to the entire class on their topic.  Project and presentation points.  If you are absent:  Write a 200 word paper on one of these topics:  Justinian's Law Code,  Byzantine architecture (Hagia Sophia), or Eastern Orthodox Christian Church.
Tue. 11/15 -- QZ. on Byzantium. Begin Russia with a reading from the Primary Chronicle.  Worksheet on the Russian Empire, p. 307-311.
Wed. 11/16 -- Russia history lecture and video from engineering an empire about Russia.  Learn all about Ivan III and Ivan IV. If absent you will need to copy a classmates notes.
Thur. 11/17 -- Mini-project on the Mongols.  Groups of 2 or 3 are allowed. See me for complete directions. 
Fri.  11/18 -- Review for unit test, worksheet.

Tues. 11/8 -- Day one for Global Issues Paper.  This is a major paper and is worth 75 points.  It is due Friday, Novmeber 18th.
Wed. 11/9 -- Second Research Day -- Library
Thur. 11/10 -- Worksheet about China.  OUTLINE for the paper is due today.

Mon. 11/7 -- Lecutre on the Tools of Monetary policy.  There is a hand-out, but it is not as good as the lucture.  Check with someone who would take good notes.  Video "The Power of Money" which covers similar information with nifty graphics and examples.  -- Volker Recession (know it!)
Tue. 11/8 -- Open note quiz on Chapter 14.  Notes on financial Instituions and Investement considerations.  Read page 289-294.  Draw figure 11.1 and describe 3 types of NON BANK financial intermediaries.  Read on, to Basic Investment Considerations.  Describe the 4 basic investment considerations. Wed. 11/9 -- Begin two-day project on Financial Investments and risk.  Three- Pocket Organizer.  You will need to get diretions from me if you are absent. Economic Current Event (ECE) #1 DUE

Mon. 11/7 -- Quiz: Islam vocab;  Map of the Spread of Islam.
Tue. 11/8 -- Legacies of Islmic Culture. P. 274-279 >> Read and find examples of 7 legacies from Islamic culture.  Write two sentences about each legacy.  One choice of the seven must be the House of Wisdom.  Be specific -- do not write about astronomy, write about the astrolabe.
Wed. 11/9 -- Map of Constantinople, 550.  Pick up the map direction.  Begin Video on Justinian.
Thu. 11/10 -- Finish map.  Notes on the Byzantine Empire.  Learn about iconoclasm and the Eastern Orthodox church.

Mon. 10/31 -- Worksheet on the landforms of S. Asia, two sides.  We also discussed and read about environmental issues.  Absent students need to get the worksheet and do the questions. p. 551-555 and p. 560-563.
Tues. 11/1 -- Interlocking Ven diagram on the religions founded in India.  There is a ven diagram to fill in and a sheet with information on religions in India.
Wed. 11/2 -- Watch Gandhi
Thur. 11/3 -- Finish Gandhi.  Homework: Complete the fill in the blank worksheet on the history of India.  p. 567-572.  Study for the Quiz.
Fri. 11/4 -- Quiz on South Asia.  Map was returned on Tuesday.  Notes on issues in South Asia.

Economics
Mon. 10/31 -- Money and Monetary Standards worksheet.
Tue. 11/1 -- Video -- Modern Marvels US Mints.  Most of this information is covered in the history lecture.  See Wed.
Wed. 11/2 -- Lecture on the history of banking.  Pairs of students then turned the lecutre and video information and worksheet information into a timeline on the history of banking.  It needs 12 events.  Explain why five are important.
Thur. 11/3 -- Project on types of banks and ban services.  Watch a 60 Minutes video "Your bank has failed."  Discuss the role of the FDIC.
Fri. 11/4 -- Federal Reserve Chart, Responsibilities and structure of the Fed.  Video: "Eye of the Storm."

Mon. 10/31 -- Notes on the history of China.  Additional notes on the Great Wall and Shi Huangdi's tomb from Engineering an Empire.

Thur. 11/3 -- Video on the history of Islam called "Empire of Faith."  Covers the history of the founding of Islam through Mohammad's return to Mecca.   Notes from the video.
