Mon. 11/7 -- Lecutre on the Tools of Monetary policy. There is a hand-out, but it is not as good as the lucture. Check with someone who would take good notes. Video "The Power of Money" which covers similar information with nifty graphics and examples. -- Volker Recession (know it!)
Tue. 11/8 -- Open note quiz on Chapter 14. Notes on financial Instituions and Investement considerations. Read page 289-294. Draw figure 11.1 and describe 3 types of NON BANK financial intermediaries. Read on, to Basic Investment Considerations. Describe the 4 basic investment considerations. Wed. 11/9 -- Begin two-day project on Financial Investments and risk. Three- Pocket Organizer. You will need to get diretions from me if you are absent. Economic Current Event (ECE) #1 DUE
Thur. 11/10 -- Finish three- Pocket Organizer on investment. If there is time, discuss different types of investments and risk.

Mon. 11/7 -- Quiz: Islam vocab; Map of the Spread of Islam.
Tue. 11/8 -- Legacies of Islmic Culture. P. 274-279 >> Read and find examples of 7 legacies from Islamic culture. Write two sentences about each legacy. One choice of the seven must be the House of Wisdom. Be specific -- do not write about astronomy, write about the astrolabe.
Wed. 11/9 -- Map of Constantinople, 550. Pick up the map direction. Begin Video on Justinian.
Thu. 11/10 -- Finish map. Notes on the Byzantine Empire. Learn about iconoclasm and the Eastern Orthodox church.
