March 11-15, 2013

Welcome to HSPE testing week.  The school day schedule is altered significantly to accomodate three hours of testing time Tuesday through Thursday of this week.  Monday and Friday are regular schedule days.

Ancient Medieval
Mon. 3/11 -- Power point notes and introduction to India.  Worksheet on civilizations of the Indus River valley p. 44-49.  New calendars will be handed out today!
Tue. 3/12 (periods 1,3,5) -- Begin work on Hinduism and Buddhism posters.  There is an alternative assignment for students who will not be in class since this is a group project.
Wed. 3/13  (Last day for any late work on Rome!).  Repeat with periods (2,4,6).
Thur. 3/14 -- [classes are only 25 minutes long today].  Continue work on the poster.
Fri. 3/15 -- Quiz on Hinduism, Buddhism and Christianity.  The quiz will have statements about the religions and students will have to correctly match.  There will be final class time to complete the poster ~ The poster is DUE today.

World Geography
Mon. 3/11 -- Power point on the regions of the Middle East (Southwest Asia).  We will look at regional differences -- mainly in geography.  Student partners will begin the Regions pamphlet project.  Students will review their ME map and write about each region providing both facts and opinions.  Get a copy of the directions if absent.
Tue. 3/12  HSPE-- periods 1,3,5, (no class)
Wed. 3/13 -- Finish the regions project; review map and the concept of region.
Thur. 3/14 -- [classes are only 25 minutes today]. Culture of Arabia. Today students will look at Arabic writing styles and art. 
Fri. 3/15 -- Powerpoint and a notes page on oil in the Middle East.  Students will also complete a worksheet on reading from the text pages. 529-531.

Art History
Mon. 3/11 -- Lecture on early photography.  A copy of the powerpoint will be provided. 
Tue. 3/12 -- HSPE -- periods 1,3,5 (no class)
Wed. 3/13 -- Art Cards 48-57 due (Romantic period). Test review day.
Thur. 3/14 -- [classes are only 25 minutes today]. More test review :)
Fri. 3/15 -- Test on mostly 18th century art (Rococo, Neoclassical and Romantic); Notebook #3 Due.
NOTE: Next Monday and Tuesday we will do Chinese art.
